Let's Beat Up Some Nerds!

Hello MIRKins!

So last week we were in Boston (alright, really Cambridge but pretty much Boston).  We played with our good friends Greenline Inbound!

Before we left, we had to make sure the trailer was secure, so Muscle Russell was on the job...

We then made the trip east to the MA.  Once we got there, we had to stop for some food...and what better place than The Russell House?

We played at this really cool spot called The Loft at Tommy Doyle's which is in Harvard Square

Since we were in Harvard territory, Andy wanted to find a nerd to beat up...but I think he just became one himself...

Harvard must have ties to Apple because we were able to get a secret iPhone 5 peak!

We had an awesome show!  Thank you to all the people there who helped us rock the house.  We hung around to check out Greenline's set, and they tore it down!

This past weekend, we were up in Lake George for the EQX event sponsored by Coors Light.  We closed out the pub crawl at King Neptune's!

This weekend, we will be at The Upstate Concert Hall (formally Northern Lights) playing a FREE SHOW sponsored by EQX.  We will be rocking the stage with Electric Guest and Northern Faces.

On the road again...

Hello MIRKins!

So this was a busy week for us! On Tuesday we played a charity event on the Dutch Apple Cruise in Albany NY.  Check out Mike looking all sexy on a boat...

Being on the water gave Mike the urge to sing us a little diddy...

On Saturday, we ventured south to Philly.  Had to stop on the thruway to fill up.  Josh kept his back to the pump so he didn't see the raping our wallet was taking

On the way there, we got tired of the radio, so we played the only CD we had, which was in the CD player...

The venue was sick!  The North Shore Beach Club was this outdoor pool place in the middle of the city.  We all hung out by the pool before we had to perform.

They even had a chair to help Andy into the pool...

We drove back that night, but before we left we had to get some traditional Philly Cheese Steaks. 

On the way back, Steve and Kate were pilot and co-pilot, rocking out to stay awake.

On Sunday, we shot our video for our new single Marathon, which you can download HERE. 

While waiting for the director to get all set up, we had a little fun with Mike's hair.

Well, that's all we have today.  This Friday we will be in Boston at Tommy Doyle's.

My Feet Are Chasing The Hands On The Clock...

So this past week has been pretty awesome!  We have officially released our new single MARATHON!
Our boy Robert has done a sick job with the artwork..

MARATHON is now available for download on itunes!

Also, we have been added to 2 more dates on this years Vans Warped Tour!  We will be playing 7/20 in Camden NJ, 7/21 on Long Island and 7/22 in Hartford CT

On Friday, we rocked Jillian's on Pearl St with our good friends Titanics, Ill Doots and Wild Adriatic...Check out some clips from the show

Been On MIRK-cation

Hello MIRKins!!

Sorry we haven't talked in a while.  We have been on a slight MIRK-cation...but we are back!! And with some awesome news.

First off...

This Friday, June 15th, will be out LAST LOCAL SHOW OF THE SUMMER! That's right folks...we are taking the rest of the summer for our east coast tour, so Albany is our first stop (of course).  We have a sick line-up.  The show will kick off with The Titanics, then Ill Doots - a hip hop band from Philly, followed by the illest guys in cardigan sweaters Wild Adriatic, and your own MIRK will end the show.  It is at Jillian's on S. Pearl St THIS FRIDAY!

Also at this show, we will be premiering our new single, Marathon!  This is BRAND NEW music...never before played live!  Our boy Robert has already done some sick artwork for this single...

'Marathon' will be available for download on itunes June 15th as well!

Also, for those who have been in the dark, we are playing the Ourstage stage at Vans Warped Tour on Jule 20th in Camden NJ!!!

In some sad news..Andy got attacked by a zombie on bath salts who messed up his knee.  He had to have surgery, but it went very well!

Ok, he really just fell...but it sure looks like a zombie attack!

Josh got a chance to meet his man crush, Action Bronson...I think they make an adorable couple...

We also have gotten some awesome responses to our Pandora station!

Fat Bottom Girls

Hello MIRKins!!!

So these last two weeks have been pretty laid back for us.  We have been busy recording and rehearsing new material as well as booking some east coast gigs for the summer.

I figured I would take you through a typical MIRK rehearsal for this week's MIRK Monday's...

First we like to warm up...

Then after about an hour of rocking, we take a break. Our 'break conversations' are always very interesting...

Then once we are finished, we wait for Josh who likes to take his sweet ass time...We write music everywhere, about everything...

This Microphone Smells Like Ass...

Hello MIRKins!

So this was a busy week.  We started our week off with the good news that our first album, LOVE, is now officially on Pandora.  Get your Mirk and the New Familiars (our old name which is associated with our first album) pandora station today!

We are back in the studio working on new tracks that we will start releasing for FREE.  One track will be released per month.  Here is Steve working on one of the tracks...

We rocked Friday Night Live with one of our new favorite bands, Green Line Inbound, from Boston.  Here they are! These guys were dope!

This weekend we will be playing at Bootleggers in Troy NY.  This will be the first time we are playing here and we hope to see all of you out there!

Gourmet Band Names...

Hello MIRKins!

So we had a pretty awesome week! We started off in the studio working on some new material...

On Friday, we traveled to Brooklyn to open up for Travie McCoy at this dope club at SRB.

It was a long day of travel with a lot of traffic, and an awesome sound check, so we went to grab a bite to eat before the show kicked off.  Josh started to show his fatigue...

God, he is so sexy...

The following day, we traveled back to Albany to open of for the master, Rakim!

This weekend, we will be at Red Square on Friday for Friday Night Live.  We have an awesome band from Boston coming to rock the show with us, Greenline Inbound. This will be an awesome show, so please come check us all out!

The following day, we will be at one of our favorite venues, Stout on Broadway.  This will be a whole night of MIRK, starting at 10pm and ending at 2pm!

ALSO :: Our guitar player has his OWN BLOG...Mike always has a knack for coming up with amazing and hilarious band names...well now he has his own blog.

Music Makes Me High-er

HELLO MIRKINS!

Well this was a crazy week.  We visited WEQX in VT to promote the Move Festival which was this past weekend.

Thank you to everyone at EQX for the love.

We were busy this week in the studio, tracking new songs and remixing some old ones.  When it gets super later, sometimes you get a little crazy...

You also never know where your inspiration for a new song will come from...

On Friday, we rocked the 4th Annual 420 show presented by Tree Shurts.  Check out some shots of the show, thanks to Upstate Photographers.

Then we will be at Northern Lights opening up for the one and only Rakim!

It's no 3D Tupac, but we do our best...

HELLO ALL!

So we haven't spoken in awhile! How are you? How are the kids? That's good...

So 2 weekends ago, we rocked Stout on Broadway. If you haven't been there yet, then you are crazy. If you haven't been there in awhile, then check it out again because they put in a brand new DEBO sound system!

While packing the van at the end of the night, tragedy struck...but Chris Russell was there to save the day...

Later in the week, we shot a promo video for the 4th Annual 420 show presented by Tree Shurts which will be on 4/20 at Red Square. All of our friends from Tree Shurts were there, including the polar bear!

Steve ran into a wardrobe malfunction during the shoot...

We then played at McGeary's this past week. Thank you all who were there, that really is one of our favorite places to be. Here we are getting ready to set it off!

We will be returning to McGeary's this Saturday at the 1st annual MOVE Festival.

This past Saturday, we were at Northern Lights opening up for Badfish. We got there early to unload which makes you really sweaty and thus, take your shirt off...

Since Everything Else Was Late This Week...

Hello MIRKins!

So this week, we had a special show at Red Square. It was our buddy JB's album release party. Congrats on the album bro!

For those who may be unaware, the MIRK headquarters are in the Armory in Albany NY. Our van is parked in the basement where all the ghosts of the Armory live. Kate got to the van a little early and pranking ensued...

Yesterday, we went to Brooklyn to perform at Collision Course at SRB's.

And the venue was super sick!

We all know Mike is a multi-tasker...He can love and hate his pedalboard at the same time, chug a beer and play a guitar solo at the same time and now he can play guitar and pocket text the whole band...evidence below...

Makes perfect sense to me!

Good thing none of us had to work in the morning...oh wait...

Greetings from SXSW!!!

Hellooooo MIRKins!!

This week was sooooo busy! We went from Atlanta to Austin for South by Southwest!

We went down there with our new stickers which we plastered all over Austin...

Once we got there, we set up outside to busk ( v. To play music or perform entertainment in a public place, usually while soliciting money.)

Unfortunately, we were playing without a permit and got shut down after only a half hour. It was late on Tuesday, so we decided to call it a night and go out and enjoy ourselves. First stop was the "Shot Bar" for some fireballs...

For those who don't know, our guitarist Mike is mildly obsessed with the food network. He was our food guide for the trip and we ended up going to Maria's Taco Express from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

Whilst there, Mike and Josh decided to join the open mic and do some acoustic MIRK also known as MIRKoustic

Since we got shut down from using power, we had to get creative with our busking. Kate couldn't play her bass, so she went to a pawn shop and purchased a baritone...let's make some music 'Roots' style...

Mike had to roll with a battery powered amp...an ORANGE battery powered amp...

On Thursday and Friday we played at Pete's East Side Bar on 6th Street where we got nothing but love...

For the last night we had in Austin, we all went out to eat as a band...but ran into some southern UNhospitality

There were some high school students beasting on their marching drums in the street and Steve decided to join...

We left Saturday afternoon to bring Kate to Jackson, Mississippi so she could catch her plane. A little north of Waco, Texas, we ran into some super fans. Now, to preface this story, our bus has 'Tree Shurts' spray-painted on one side and '3-D Cycles' on the other (the owners of the Winnebaker).

Here's what happened...
